The following information is designed to help educators better understand the Readak
Advanced Learning Skills course. If you are a member of the faculty of a Readak host
school, you will soon receive more detailed information regarding the upcoming Readak
course at your school.
The Readak Teachers
Graduates of leading liberal arts colleges and universities, Readak teachers are flexible,
dedicated, enthusiastic individuals with a sincere concern for student progress. Every
Readak teacher is
- a graduate of more than 150 hours of specialized program training
- trained to work with students of all ages and abilities
- carefully selected to match the school's needs
- available to serve as a school resource to individual faculty or a school's in-service program.
The Readak Advanced Learning Skills Course
The Readak Advanced Learning Skills course is designed to help students in Grades 5-12
make the most of their academic potential. Students voluntarily enroll in Readak,
involving no cost to your school. Classes are scheduled outside of the normal school day
by the Readak teacher and do not disrupt your school's curricular or extracurricular
activities.
Course Content
The Readak course, which is adapted to meet both school and student needs, emphasizes
- a comprehension-oriented approach to developing efficient reading and study habits
- application of techniques to daily schoolwork
- use of student texts for application
- use of student workbook as reinforcement during the course

Faculty Workshop
During each course, the Readak teacher will offer a workshop, during which he/she will
share Readak methods, course content, and specific strategies. The teacher will also
provide suggestions for reinforcing the skills in the classroom.
